The Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce recently received seven distinguished awards for its publications at the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives (TCCE) Annual Conference.
According to the organization, TCCE involves chamber executives from across the state “to work together to improve the business climate in Texas, while developing ways to enhance the quality of life in the communities that they represent.”
The conference, held in Nacogdoches June 27-29, brought in representatives from across the state.
This year, the Chamber received the following awards:
■ First place — Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce Membership Guide and Directory
■ First place — Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce New Member Brochure
■ Second place — Lufkin/Angelina County Map
■ Second place — “Open for Business” — A Guide to Starting and/or Expanding a Business in Angelina County
■ Second place — Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce New Member Packet
■ Third Place – Neches River Rendezvous Brochure
■ Third place — Website design for lufkintexas.org
The Chamber provides these publications and others to visitors and new members who come through their doors. Chamber Vice President Tony Moline said eight products were sent in for judging and only one did not win. The local Chamber competed against others across the state with similar budgets, such as Longview, Grapevine, Pasadena and Clear Lake.
“We believe our programs have been a tremendous resource for our members, and those programs have now been recognized on a state level,” chairman Van Watson said.
Chamber president and CEO Jerry Huffman said it’s impressive to receive one award on a state level, but seven is a true honor.
“Winning seven (awards) shows the quality of this organization,” Huffman said. “We continue to try to improve the materials we have and we will continue to listen to what our members want and need to make their businesses thrive. These materials are especially helpful during these economic times and we hope they are utilized.”
Additionally, The Chamber’s accounting manager, Sally Allen, was recognized by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) organization for 25 years of service.
“Sally embraces the mission and vision of The Chamber,” Huffman said.“She is always working toward improving the economic prosperity, the business environment, and the quality of life in Angelina County.”
