Jerry Huffman, President/CEO of the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce, was elected Secretary Treasurer of the statewide Texas Festivals and Events Association (TFEA) at their annual conference in Houston July 8-11. Huffman has served on the board of directors for TFEA since 2008.

Huffman also received his Texas Event Leadership Program (TELP) Certification during this year’s annual conference, one of only 36 certifications in the state. The TELP Certification is a program directed by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service in the Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences at Texas A&M University. This program provides substantial in-depth training for event organizers throughout the State of Texas requiring over 40 hours if individual course work to include Emergency Management & Crisis Communication, Marketing and Promotions, Logistical Planning, and many others. Huffman also serves as a member of the TELP faculty and taught training courses since 2008.

"We are proud of Jerry’s achievements and realize our professional staff is one of the main reasons we have such a successful Chamber", commented Van Watson Chamber Board Chairman. "Having our Chamber, and particularly the Texas State Forest Festival, recognized statewide is just outstanding", he added, "It says so much about not only our organization, but the great volunteer support we have as well".
